In my effort to tame my scrap collection from a bag of scraps smashed in a garbage bag to organized collection of pre-cut squares that are ready so sew, I first needed to know what sizes I would use. So I searched the internet for scrap quilt patterns that I like and would most likely use. Below is that list.
Uses 1 1/2" and 2 1/2" squares
From Bonnie Hunter's quilts
Uses 2" squares
Uses 2 1/2" squares and 3" squares.
Note I make the half square triangles from the 3" squares and then trim them down to 2 1/2".
I really like this one as you can use either 1 1/2", 2" or 2 1/2" depending on the size of quilt.
Depending on the size of quilt you want to make, any size square.
The one I make uses 2 1/5" and 5" square
Note I make the half square triangles from the 5" squares and then trim them down to 4 1/2".
Use any size square to make half square triangles.
Uses 1 1/2" squares
Uses 2 and 2 1/2" squares
Use 2 1/2" squares
Uses 2 1/2" squares
Uses 2" squares
Sister's Choice
Uses 2 1/2" and 3" squares.
99 Bottles Quilt
Since this one is not free, I can't say the size of squares, but I do have them and really like the pattern.
